Perlite is an amorphous volcanic glass with a high-water content. When heated to a high temperature the granular product expands like popcorn resulting in tiny bubble structures. Perlite is used extensively to reduce the weight in a wide variety of construction materials and packaging. When used in agriculture, it provides aeration and optimum moisture retention. The internal bubble structure also provides high absorption and thermal resistance capabilities.
Expanded perlite is available in standard packaging or private label packaging
