What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to get a tomato plant that produces a lot of tomatoes?
There’s an endless amount of tips and tricks with adding crushed egg shells or coffee grounds to the soil. Even after doing all of this and making the perfect soil, you might still only get one or two tomatoes.

This blog will help prevent that and ensure you get an abundance of large tomatoes this growing season. It is very simple and does not involve long hours and storing crushed egg shells and coffee grounds. All it involves is a little bit of time, care, and getting your fingers slightly green.

Looking at this picture, familiarize yourself with what is the growing tip, leaf, axil, main stem, and the lowest flower/fruit cluster. There are two things to remove to promote root growth and a high yield tomato plant.

Remove the root suckers, which are the first and second leaves closest to the ground.

Next, remove the suckers. The suckers are the leaves that are between the main stem and prominent leaves. As seen in the picture, they are usually small and in between the leaf and main stem. 

Removing both the suckers and root suckers allows the plant to focus on directing energy and nutrients to the main stem. Additionally, it improves air circulation, minimizes diseases that thrive in moisture, and creates a more manageable plant.
